My Prayer of Grief
by Pastor Randy Ming - 7-23-2017
Heavenly Father, as I ponder the passing and loss of my friend, I thought, I would have liked to have had more time. But on further examination, more time would appear to be either short-sighted or self-centered.
I am now old enough to understand the brevity of time. No matter how much time we could be given, the time would quickly pass and we would find ourselves where we are today. And so, more time is a short-sighted answer to the problem.
Were I to desire more time to be spared the grief of losing a loved one, I only pass my grief to those I love who would grieve my passing. More time is a self-centered answer to the problem.
The answer is eternity, but the cost of sin is death. The answer to eternity is Jesus. Jesus lived a life I could not live and then paid the price of sin I could not pay. As the Scriptures say, "God so love the world that He gave His only Son that whomever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." Amen
